SCCAAS 2014 Conference Call for Proposals

2014 marks SCCAAS's 8th anniversary. The overall theme for the conference is “African American Studies: Utilizing the Arts to teach Common Core.” 

The successful proposal should

  • incorporate the common core standards into teaching one or several aspects of the primary social studies curriculum strands - history, government, economics, and geography 
  • incorporate the visual and performing arts into teaching one or several aspects of the primary social studies curriculum strands - history, government, economics, and geography
  • explore creative techniques for delivering this historical content to students and adults
  • meet the deadline for submission of December 1, 2013
Online submissions only. Accepted proposals will be notified by January 1. 

Accepted presenter proposals will receive:
  1. One complimentary full conference registration, if required one additional presenter at half price.

  2. Projector and screen setup for presentation. All presenters must provide their own laptops.

  3. Conference giveaways, plus all conference meals included.

  4. One year membership to the South Carolina Council for African American Studies.

  5. Subscription to eNewsletter.
The conference is scheduled to be held February 21-22, 2014 at the South Carolina Department of Archives.and History.
