Conference Mission
To address efforts to coordinate “best practices” of African American History/ Studies Infusion through a collaborative endeavor with various agencies, institutions and stake-holders.
Conference Objectives
- Participants will be able to identify and develop useful strategies for the infusion of African American history/ studies within current SC Academic Standards and within the home.
- Participants will be able to collaborate to learn strategies for curriculum development/integration.
- Participants will create professional development activities that will address student learning and student achievement
Target Audience
“Language Literacy and the African American Student” will attract a diverse audience from the State of South Carolina and beyond. Specifically, the Conference will target:
- Community organizations and stakeholders
- Parents
- Primary and secondary school teachers
- Professors of higher education
- School administrators
- Members of boards of education
- All interested in African and African American influences
